The Pink Desert
The Pink Desert

I painted this burnt landscape from my experience of driving from Karratha to Broome where charred sentinels left standing as the remaining witnesses to the fire that ravaged them.
Driving through the Pilbara region of Western Australia was like driving through a painting of coral coloured sands, with various hues of reds, pinks, yellows, creams. The desert landscape seems abandoned of life due to the heat and harsh environment, but is rich in colour and life that is etched in my memory.
